In the last year alone there’s been 2,000,000 YouTube views of his singles. His record label, Neon, boasts an assembly of platinum certified releases with multiple ARIA #1’s. His production outfit TV ROCK has gone to the top of the club charts in 6 countries gaining multiple Pete Tong spins on ‘The Essential Selection’ on UK’s BBC1.
Grant who has become a household name, not only in Australia but around the world, declares “The best is still yet to come”. That’s a pretty powerful statement from a DJ/Producer who holds the record for the most time spent in the Australian club chart top 10, with his track Flaunt It.
The twitter version of his history is as follows: recipient of 2 x ARIA awards, host of the highest rating Dance radio show in Australia on the Nova network for the past 5 years, TV host with Channel [V], record label owner, 360 Agency owner, GQ DJ of the Year, venue owner, producer and DJ… It’s fair to say that ‘G’ as his friends call him is the voice of Australian electronica.
Continuing on from the huge success of ‘In The Air’ and ‘Been A Long Time’ on Axwell’s label Axtone, his TV ROCK outfit has released ‘Diamonds In The Sky’ on Fedde Le Grand’s label Flamingo in conjunction with Neon, peaking at #9 on the Dutch pop charts. In July this year, TVR flew in for a live performance at Pacha with Pete Tong in Ibiza. Grant was also executive producer of Zoe Badwi’s debut album Zoe; also collaborating with Zoe on the single Carry Me Home, a top 10 Australian Club Chart hit. TV Rock’s forthcoming single Save Me Now features the vocals of Italy’s Dino Lenny and will be out soon on Steve Angello’s SIZE records.
Spend a day in the life of Grant Smillie and you will find out that he lives and breathes Electronic Music and sleep well… it’s over-rated!
