AUSTRALIAN FIRST – FANS AT AUSTRALIAN OPEN OF SURFING TO CREATE GEORGIA FAIR’S NEXT MUSIC VIDEO

Sony Australia is giving music and surfing supporters the chance to become part of an Australian-first next week.  Fans attending the Australian Open of Surfing at Sydney’s Manly Beach will be given the chance to become the creators of folk duo Georgia Fair’s music video for their single, Blind, from their critically acclaimed debut album, All Through Winter.

"We're really honoured and excited to be part of not only a great event, but an Australian first initiative,” explained Ben Riley of Georgia Fair.

“We’ve taken a few artistic liberties with this project and I'm sure with the combined force of thousands of creative minds, we'll come up with something really special!”

To take part in the project, fans at next week’s Australian Open of Surfing (AOS) can borrow a Sony camera from the Sony Shack, a pop-up space located at the corner of Steinton Street and North Steyne in Manly, and simply start shooting. Georgia Fair’s video directors will be on-hand at intervals to give guidance however everyone has free reign to shoot what they want: whether it is themselves, their mates, the beach, other spectators or even all the action from the Australian Open of Surfing – in a daring move, the creative direction is in the public’s hand.

Content taken by fans throughout the event will be collated at the end of each day with the final video to be released on Friday, 24th February 2012.  The best footage shot by fans during the event will then be included in this Australian-first video and will be credited in the final cut which is to be launched across TV, radio web-pages and other online media.

In addition to the prospect of having their images and videos broadcast to an international audience, there are also daily prizes (1x Sony Cyber-shot digital camera) on offer for the ‘shot of the day’ and a Billabong and Hurley prize-pack for the ‘shot of the festival’. Fans can also find their footage online at the Sony Facebook page.
