Who can skate on the VPS Pro Tour?

Only VPS Tour Pros can skate on the VPS Pro Tour.

For men, there are thirty-three (33) Tour Pros on the VPS Pro Tour. VPS Tour Pros are comprised of:

How does it work?

Only VPS Tour Challengers earn points toward season rankings on the VPS Pro Tour. Final VPS Pro Tour season rankings determine eligibility for VPS World Championships. VPS Select Pros and Tour Wildcards are seeded into the semi-finals at every VPS Pro Tour global qualifying event.

For men, the top five (5) VPS Tour Challengers in the final VPS Pro Tour rankings will meet the eight (8) VPS Select Pros, seven (7) VPS Tour Wildcards and five (5) VPS Continental Champions in the annual VPS World Championships of park terrain skateboarding. Points are earned by VPS Tour Challengers for individual placings at every VPS Pro Tour global qualifying event. The best three combined placings out of five possible (best 3 of 5) count towards final VPS Pro Tour rankings.

For women, the top seven (7) VPS Tour Challengers to emerge from a single VPS Pro Tour global qualifying event will join the three (3) VPS Select Pros and five (5) VPS Continental Champions in the annual VPS World Championships of park terrain skateboarding.

What are VPS Select Pros?

VPS Select Pros are elite Tour Pros invited to compete in the VPS World Championships against series qualifying VPS Tour Challengers, Continental Champions and, where applicable, VPS Tour Wildcards. VPS Select Pros are seeded into the semi-finals at every VPS Pro Tour global qualifying event.

For men, the VPS Select Pros are the top eight (8) ranked skaters from the previous year VPS World Championship. To claim their invitation to the VPS World Championships, VPS Select Pros must compete in at least three VPS Pro Tour global qualifying events. Men’s VPS Select Pros unable to attend at least three VPS Pro Tour global qualifying events must apply for and receive an exception from the VPS or forfeit their invitation to the VPS World Championships.

VPS Tour Wildcards are Tour Pros selected each year by a committee of competition organizers, sport organizers and event promoters comprised of seven (7) top professional skateboarders who, for whatever reason, might not otherwise have qualified to compete in the men’s VPS World Championship alongside VPS Select Pros, Continental Champions and series qualifying VPS Tour Challengers. To claim their invitation, VPS Tour Wildcards must compete in at least three (3) VPS Pro Tour global qualifying events. VPS Tour Wildcards are seeded directly into the semi-finals at every VPS Pro Tour global qualifying event. What are VPS Tour Challengers?

VPS Tour Challengers are Tour Pros comprised of top professional park terrain skateboarders invited to compete on the VPS Pro Tour, providing an official path to the Vans Park Series World Championships. Any qualifying VPS Tour Challenger advancing to the VPS World Championships via an open Continental Championship forfeits his/her VPS Pro Tour ranking invitation to the next ranked VPS Tour Challenger in the year-end season rankings.

For men, VPS Tour Challengers are invited to compete on the VPS Pro Tour for one of no less than five (5) open spots in the men’s VPS World Championship event. Beginning 2018, VPS Tour Challengers will be comprised of the top eighteen (18) previous year overall ranked men’s VPS Tour Challengers.

For women, VPS Tour Challengers are invited to compete in a single VPS Pro Tour global qualifying event for one of no less than seven (7) open spots in the women’s VPS World Championship event. Beginning 2018, VPS Tour Challengers will be comprised of the top fifteen (15) previous year overall ranked women’s VPS Tour Challengers.

What are VPS Event Wildcards?

For men, in addition to VPS Tour Wildcards there are also at least two (2) VPS Event Wildcards per VPS Pro Tour global qualifying event stop. These are skateboarders chosen to compete alongside VPS Tour Pros in a single VPS Pro Tour event.

The VPS Event Wildcard is typically awarded by either the event sponsor, through a trials event or through automatic entry at the discretion of the event organizer and candidates may come from the sponsor’s team, the local area or both. Not only do these skaters complete the seed list and/or fill in for injured skaters, but they also bring exciting new faces and challenges to the VPS Pro Tour elite. VPS Event Wildcards do not earn points.

There are no VPS wildcards in the field for women.
